Dr. Sarah Tobin

Dr. Tobin’s research is an economic anthropology project on Islamic banking and finance, and consumption—examining how Muslims in Amman, Jordan, are working out their religious values in these aspects of the economy. In a broader scope, the research examines Muslim identity, pieties, and practices in the contemporary and modern economy. Sarah conducted fieldwork in Amman, Jordan, from September 2007 through June 2009. She received her MA from the University of South Florida in applied anthropology in 2005.
