China’s smallest ethnic group, the Lhoba Ethnic Group, resides in the Shannan and Nyingchi Counties of Tibet Autonomous Region in China. The Lhoba (Tibetan for “the people from the south”), in spite of numbering only 2,965, have their own unique language and culture. Dr. Wang Tingzhi will discuss his work, sponsored by the United Nations Development Program, in creating a tourism plan for Lhoba people that was conducive to the unique culture of Lhoba Ethnic Group.
