Shipeng Guo received a master’s degree from UC Berkeley in 2010. Before that, he worked as a journalist in Beijing, covering natural disasters, accidents and all kinds of social issues. His research at BU will focus on the transformation by industrialization and globalization of the rural society in southern China. He is also interested in the religious resurgence among both peasants and well-educated urban dwellers across the country.
