| Child
and Family Project Closed to Enrollment |
 |
Our Child and Family Project, part of NIH's Studies to Advance Autism
Research and Treatment (STAART), has enjoyed four productive years
of learning more about the early development of young children with
autism spectrum disorders and how their families adapt to their special
needs. We are now entering the fifth and final year of the project.
During this year, we will continue to follow families already enrolled
for their last visits to the lab and begin the exciting process of
analyzing the data we have collected so that we may share with the
scientific community what we have learned. Unfortunately, this means
that we are no longer able to enroll new families into the project.
We are so grateful for all the Early Intervention Providers, Specialty
Service Providers, other professionals, and parents who have referred
families to our research study and to the wonderful families who have
given of their time to participate in our research. We hope that the
results obtained through this research will help us to understand
the variability in patterns of development for young children with
autism spetcrum disorders and the implications for their families,
clarify the role of early intervention for young children with autism
spectrum disorders, and contribute to new and more effective treatment
options in the future. If you have any questions about the Child and
Family Project, please contact Family Coordinator Kristin Dame at
kdame@bu.edu. For information on other studies for which your child
may be eligible, please visit our Ongoing
Programs page. |
