Postdoctoral Fellow

Ph.D. 2001 Neurolinguistics, Boston University

As a post-doctoral fellow I am training on the standardized testing and data collection involved in a series of studies focusing on the language abilities of children with autism and their typically developing peers. My prior work focused on the analysis of categorization and production of emotional and grammatical facial expressions in American Sign Language, using behavioral as well as fMRI measures. I am hoping to use this post-doctoral fellowship to transfer my research attention to the field of autism. My background as a licensed Speech Language Pathologist and ongoing focus on linguistics have exposed me to many of the issues and potential research questions in this population. I look forward to designing, conducting and analyzing studies on the integration of verbal and nonverbal aspects of the social interactions in children with autism.
