Background

Erin Whalen has worked to educate, train, and support patients, families, and professionals dealing with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias for over ten years. A graduate of Providence College in RI, she has worked in a variety of community care settings and most recently at the Alzheimer’s Association. Ms. Whalen joined the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Clinical and Research Program at Boston University School of Medicine in May 2005.

ADC Role

Ms. Whalen serves as the Associate Coordinator of the Health Outreach Program for the Elderly (HOPE) study, a National Institute on Aging funded research project that evaluates older adults with and without memory problems throughout their lives. Ms. Whalen is also involved in recruitment and community outreach for all of the studies offered through the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease and Clinical Research Program.

Research Interests

Ms. Whalen’s interests in research include memory and normal aging, caregiver support interventions, and the detection and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease risk factors.
