Background

Dr. Maureen O’Connor completed her undergraduate studies at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. She earned her doctoral degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and completed her predoctoral residency in neuropsychology at Yale University School of Medicine. She completed one year of postdoctoral residency at Cornell Weill Medical College and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan. She joined the Boston University School of Medicine’s Department of Neurology in 2003. Dr. O’Connor is a licensed psychologist in Massachusetts and New York. Her primary position is at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, where she is Director of Neuropsychology in the Psychology Department. 

Research Interests

Dr. O’Connor’s research interests are focused on the development of treatment interventions designed to improve daily living and well being in individuals with neurocognitive disorders and their family members.

ADC role

At present, Dr. O’Connor serves as a consulting neuropsychologist for the HOPE study. She served as the lead investigator on an ADC-funded pilot grant examining the impact of a program launched by the Boston Housing Authority to engage community-dwelling older adult residents of Boston public housing in active exercise. She is currently the principal investigator on a newly funded study (CARE-Plus) designed to increase self efficacy in AD caregivers while teaching specific skills to manage disruptive behaviors that their loved one with AD may exhibit.

Dr. O’Connor is a member of the International Neuropsychological Society, the Massachusetts Neuropsychological Society (MNS), the American Psychological Association (APA), APA's Division 40 (Clinical Neuropsychology), and the National Academy of Neuropsychology.
