LOAD is a National Institute on Aging funded nationwide study to find genes that play a role in late life Alzheimer’s disease and to understand how these genes work. It is hoped that this effort will speed up the discovery of the genes that increase the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
We are looking for families with at least three members who are willing to donate a blood sample. Two of these family members must be siblings who developed Alzheimer’s disease after the age of 60. The third family can be with or without memory loss, but must be at least over the age of 60 if they do not have a problem with their memory.
Participants will be asked to provide a blood sample, complete an interview, either in person or over the phone, and give permission for their medical records to be reviewed. Some people may be asked to have a medical exam including memory testing. Families will have the opportunity to participate on an annual basis.
Boston and the surrounding New England area.
