Behavioral Neurology Fellowship

One Clinical Research Behavioral Neurology fellowship is available at the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Clinical & Research Program (ADCRP) in the Department of Neurology. The fellowship program, lasting two to three years, is designed to train physicians to become independent clinical researchers and to provide advanced clinical training in behavioral neurology and the management of neurodegenerative disorders.

The fellow will be part of the Clinical Core of the NIA-funded BU-ADCC, where research and clinical mentorship is supported through a dynamic and highly collaborative unit of over 30 faculty and staff members. Through a formal training program, participating fellows will develop clinical expertise in dementia as well as design and carry out independent research studies, including data analysis and authoring of manuscripts. The ADCRP and ADCC Clinical Core have an active clinical research team with excellent mentoring opportunities in behavioral neurology, neuropsychology, and neuropathology. The fellow will take part in the latest clinical trials for Alzheimer’s disease. Formal neuropathology and neuropsychology electives can be arranged, though these electives are not mandatory.

Our full time fellow will receive tuition remission to enroll in specific course work at the BU School of Public Health to build skills in research design and biostatistics. An optional third year can be added to the fellowship to provide time for the fellow to obtain a Master’s degree in Epidemiology.

To augment the fellow’s clinical and research training, structured didactic activities are available and include weekly participation in Neurology Grand Rounds, ADCC Lecture Series, and grant review seminars. A weekly consensus conference will provide an excellent learning experience for differential diagnosis of dementia.

Stipends are competitive and commensurate with NIH fellowship guidelines.
Anticipated start dates fall between July 1, 2008 and Jan 1, 2009.  These positions are not part of the national APPCN matching program.
