In conjunction with Boston Medical Center, the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Center (BU ADC) offers a number of clinical care services for older adults with memory loss, AD patients, family members, and caregivers. These services include:
- We perform memory diagnostic workups to help distinguish between normal aging and abnormal memory loss due to a neurodegenerative condition, such as Alzheimer’s disease,
- We offer medical treatment and follow-up care for patients diagnosed with AD and related disorders,
- We provide support and consultation to patients and families for long-term planning, caregiver respite, and education,
- We make referrals to community resources, such as adult day programs, and
- Opportunities are available to participate in cutting-edge clinical trials of new agents to treat neurodegenerative diseases, such as AD.
If you believe someone you know may have AD, please do not hesitate to schedule a memory diagnostic workup. Early diagnosis is important in treating memory loss and slowing the progression of cognitive changes. You do not need a referral to be seen in our memory clinics. For more information regarding clinical evaluations for patients, please refer to our Clinical Care webpage.
If you would like to find out about our current research studies, including treatment trials, please contact our recruitment coordinator, Silvia Serrano by phone (617-414-1078) or email (sserrano@bu.edu).
