Locations at the Boston University Medical Center, Boston, MA and on the South Shore in Weymouth, MA Overview of Services The Neurology Department of Boston University Medical Center offers a full spectrum of neurological care, including examination, diagnostic evaluation, consultation, treatment, comprehensive follow-up, and rehabilitation recommendations for disorders of the nervous system. Areas of specialty include sleep medicine, dementia, electrodiagnostic medicine (EEG/EMG), movement and autonomic disorders, and pain management. In particular, clinic services include comprehensive evaluation for individuals and families affected by memory loss and related difficulties. Diagnoses are based upon neurological examination and diagnostic tests, such as brain imaging. Assessment and treatment procedures are informed by the latest available knowledge and research in the field, and treatment of cognitive and behavioral symptoms of dementia with regular follow-up for care management is provided. Patients and their families receive assistance with long-term care planning, referrals to education and care resources in the area (e.g., adult day health programs), and compassionate care provided in a supportive environment by experienced professionals. Our clinic also coordinates patient care with patients’ primary care physicians and community health providers.
