The Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Center (BU ADC) offers multiple clinical services for older adults with memory loss or suspected Alzheimer’s disease (AD). These services are outlined below:
- We perform memory diagnostic workups to help distinguish between normal aging and abnormal memory loss due to a neurodegenerative condition, such as Alzheimer’s disease,
- We offer medical treatment and follow-up care for patients diagnosed with AD and related disorders,
- We provide support and consultation to patients and families for long-term planning, caregiver respite, and education,
- We make referrals to community resources, such as adult day programs, and
- Opportunities are available to participate in cutting-edge clinical trials of new agents to treat neurodegenerative diseases, such as AD.

Early identification and appropriate treatment can help slow the progression of memory loss. For example, there are a number of medications for the treatment of AD that are currently approved and on the market.
