Join us as we recognize Brain Injury Awareness Month on March 13, 2014. A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury (TBI) caused by a bump, blow or jolt to the head. Their effects can be serious. In July 2010 the MA State Legislature passed the law Chapter 166: An Act Relative to Safety Regulations for School Athletic Programs. Chapter 166 directed MDPH to develop regulations to implement this program. This event will raise knowledge and awareness about sports-related head injuries and concussions, discuss its management from a clinical perspective and explore exciting programs promoting sports safety.
