Part-time Education Programs Assistant Position

Job Description

The Education Programs Assistant will assist with the day-to-day activities of professional education programs provided by the Education Core of the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Center (BU ADC). He or she will work closely with the Education Programs Manager, in addition to assisting the Recruitment Coordinator and Core Director with tasks related to outreach and successful recruitment of elderly community members to BU ADC clinical research trials and studies. This is a part-time position that will require about 20 hours per week. This position will be grant-funded for approximately one year.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate lectures, workshops and events for BU ADC professional education programs, including a post-doctoral training program, an elective that pairs medical students with early-stage Alzheimer’s “buddies,” and a continuing medical education course. Tasks include: scheduling, reserving space, event advertising, ordering food/arranging delivery, tracking attendees, and collecting evaluation data from participants
  • Maintain program evaluation data in Excel or SPSS
  • Collect and monitor key career development data for T32 post-doctoral trainees
  • Track T32 expenditures and process reimbursement paperwork, consulting with Education Programs Manager and administrative staff
  • Support post-doctoral trainee recruitment as needed
  • Update the BU ADC websites and social media sites as needed, with potential for increased contribution to content development
  • Support outreach, education and screening events
  • Assist with grant paperwork and IRB documentation as needed

Position Requirements

Required:

•     An undergraduate degree with major in health, social or biological sciences, communications, liberal arts, or a related field

•     Excellent organization and communication skills, particularly written

•     Close attention to quality and detail

•     Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

•     A strong interest in Alzheimer’s disease, research, public health, neurology, and/or geriatrics

Preferred:

•     Graduate level coursework or training

•     Experience in event planning

•     Experience in research and/or evaluation methods and basic statistical analysis (particularly SPSS and Excel)

•     Experience using Microsoft Publisher or similar software to create professional brochures and other marketing materials
