William Lord (COM’59)

Dean’s Alumni Advisory Board, BU College of Communication

After graduating from Boston University’s College of Communication, William Lord received his master’s from the University of Pennsylvania in 1961. Lord spent his career in national news broadcasts at ABC, as an Executive Producer of Good Morning America, Nightline with Ted Koppel, World News Tonight with Peter Jennings and ABC News Interactive. He was also an on-air reporter for America Newsstand. Lord was named Vice President of ABC News’ Washington Bureau, where he managed network relations with the White House and other executive branch departments. Later, Lord became Vice President of ABC News. In 1992, he finished his career at ABC and returned to BU, where he was a Professor of Journalism at the College of Communication through 2008. While at BU, Lord originated COM’s multimedia program, chaired the Academic Affairs Committee, and Chaired the Dean’s Technology Committee. He is currently a member of the Dean’s Alumni Advisory Board.
