Frequently Asked Questions
“I really felt as if alumni were treated like “Queens and Kings,” for the weekend. It was wonderful to be welcomed and embraced by the school the way we were.”
Melissa Taylor, SPH’95

Who?
Who’s invited to Alumni College?
All Terriers (and guests of Terriers) near and far! If you’re looking to stretch your mind muscles while immersing yourself in the culture of Comm. Ave., then this is the event for you.
Are kids invited?
People 21 and under are not invited to Alumni College. BU will not be providing child-care or family-housing for this event, so we suggest finding a sitter for the weekend. Of course, any young adults who are interested arts & culture are welcome to attend.
What?
What should I wear?
Come back to campus in comfortable, casual clothes. Our weekend will take us off-campus and away from the dorms, so make sure to layer up for whatever the Boston weather may throw at us! If you’re an out-of-towner, check the Weather Channel for Boston’s weekend forecast before you start your trip.
On Saturday evening, our programming will take us to Symphony Hall for the Boston Pops. Business casual dress is encouraged.
Will parking be available?
Yes! Free parking will be available in designated University lots throughout the weekend for on-campus guests and commuters. Visit Parking & Accommodations for more details.
May I work out at the Fitness & Recreation Center?
Sure! FitRec’s state-of-the-art facilities are free to all Alumni College attendees between Friday, June 8 and Sunday, June 10. Enjoy the facility’s first-class amenities, including weight rooms and exercise machines, basketball and squash courts, a 1/8-mile indoor jogging track, an Olympic-size lap pool, and a recreation pool with a hot tub and lazy river. Visit the FitRec website for more information, including scheduled building hours.
Note: you must show your event name tag and photo ID to use the facility.

Print your alumni card before you hit campus.

Cancel your registration by contacting Alumni Relations at 800-800-3466 or alumni@bu.edu. If you cancel before 5 p.m. EST on June 1, we will refund the cost of your registration in full. Refunds will not be issued after June 1.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
Your registration fee covers meals during programming throughout the weekend.
If you have any dietary restrictions, please email alumni@bu.edu so that we can notify all caterers in advance.
Do I need to bring my lap top?
While a lap top is not mandatory, it is certainly encouraged! Attendees will be supplied with a flash drive preloaded with all of the course and weekend information you will need. WiFi is also available, free of charge, in StuVi1.
Where?
Do locals need to stay on campus?
Local alumni are welcome to stay with us on campus! If you’d like to commute, you can find more information on the Parking & Accommodations page.
How do room assignments work?
Rooms will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Want to room with another couple – or your sorority sisters? Let us know in advance and we will happily accommodate you. Email alumni@bu.edu with your room request.
Why?
Seriously. Why should I sign up for Alumni College?
Alumni College offers a selection of immersive courses that focus intently on specific topics. This year’s topic is the Arts & Society. Program participants share the common goal of wanting to learn, share and discuss their ideas. Which means that registering now guarantees you a satisfying educational and social experience.
So, whether the arts are your passion or something you’re just starting to explore, Alumni College is a place to make lasting connections while digging deeper into your personal, social and academic interests.
When?
When is check-out at StuVi1?
All guests need to vacate StuVi1 by 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2012. Interested in staying another night and exploring the city? Check out one of Boston’s many hotels.
Will these sessions be recorded or simulcast on the web?
There are no plans for simulcast at this time – this is a true live learning experience: classroom lectures, group discussions and hands-on experience!
