What is the Annual Fund?

Each school and college at Boston University depends on gifts to its annual fund. These vital, unrestricted dollars provide us with the financial flexibility necessary to expand our commitments to excellence in education and research. Deans use these important resources to support teaching, research, and scholarship priorities at their School/College. Each year, alumni are asked to support their School or College with a gift to the annual fund. Gifts can be made over the phone, through the mail, and via the internet.

Where does the money go?

Gifts to the Annual Funds at BU support a wide-range of areas including the schools/colleges, student life, libraries, and financial aid. 100 percent of your Annual Fund donation goes directly to the area you designated for your gift.

Who Gives?

More than 30,000 alumni, parents, and friends donated to Boston University’s Annual Funds in the 2012 Fiscal Year. Their generous contributions allow the University to provide the diverse opportunities that define BU as a world-class institution.

When does the Boston University Annual Fund ask for support?

Boston University’s fiscal year runs from July 1st to June 30th. Each year, alumni are asked to support their School or College with a gift to the annual fund. Gifts can be made over the phone, through the mail, and via the internet. Once we receive your school/college annual fund gift, we do not ask you again during the same fiscal year.

Will my gift make a difference?

Yes, it will! Your participation helps make outstanding programs and services available to current students. Higher participation rates enhance the University’s reputation and the value of the degrees it confers. If every one of our 288,000 plus alumni donated $25, BU would have $7.2 million to spend on financial aid, student life, and facility improvements. Your gifts, along with tens of thousands of others, make an important difference in the daily life of Boston University students.
