BU Timeline

In 1839, the Newbury Biblical Institute—later the School of Theology, the first school of Boston University—was established. Since then BU has hit countless milestones, from being the first university open to women in 1867 to joining the prestigious Association of American Universities in 2012, ultimately transforming into a world-class institution along the way.
