Center for Career Development

The Center for Career Development and your Alumni Association are committed to providing a variety of services to alumni. Together, we offers a host of tools to help you, as alumni, manage your career.

Career Counseling

During their first year after graduation, alumni are invited to use our career counseling services at no charge. Any alumnus/alumna can visit us during walk-in hours to meet with a career counselor on a first-come first-served basis for a quick 15-minute session. Please note that serving current students is our first priority, and on rare occasions during busy times we might see a waiting student first.

Alumni who graduated more than one year ago are invited to make appointments with our counselors for a fee of $25 per hour. Call 617-353-3590 to schedule an appointment.

Career Expos

All alumni are welcome at any of Boston University Career Expos, which are free of charge. Please keep in mind that many (although not all) employers at our Career Expos are looking to speak primarily with entry-level candidates and might be less able to provide information for candidates with more extensive experience.

Career Resource Library

Alumni are welcome to use the Career Resource Library at any time—no appointment is necessary. The Library contains books on career exploration, self-assessment, the job-search process, and graduate school information. Call 617-353-3590 for academic breaks hours.

  • Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Friday: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Summer hours: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. daily

Career Testing Package – $200

One-on-one career testing, combined with career counseling, is offered to all alumni and includes:

  • Intake appointment
  • Administration and interpretation of Strong Interest Inventory
  • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test
  • Skills and values card sorts
  • Issuance of a Career Resource Library card

Career testing sessions may be arranged at your convenience. Call our career development specialist at 617-353-3590 to set up an appointment. Please indicate that you are interested in career testing.

Credentials Service

The Center for Career Development offers a credentials service (also known as dossier service) to both current students and alumni through Interfolio. The Interfolio service allows you to collect, manage, and showcase academic and professional credentials for applications to graduate school, post-graduate study, and other opportunities. This service provides safe storage and electronic or paper mailing of your credentials documents.
