About us

Welcome to the website of Boston University Alumni Shanghai. BUA Shanghai is led by a committee consisted of Chen Chen (GRS 2004), Harold Jiang (GSM 2003), Jay Shen (CFA 1995), Vincent Wang (GRS 2000, 2002), and Harry Zhao (GSM 1995). The committee is part of Boston University Alumni (BUA), working closely with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at the University. The committee takes the initiative and responsibility of creating and developing a community of Boston University alumni in Shanghai. We are constantly looking for new volunteers who want to contribute to BUA Shanghai's activities.

BUA Shanghai's mission is to develop a local community of BU alumni by organizing engaging activities and information exchange flow to encourage interaction amongst alumni, parents, current BU students, and even their friends. We believe that a prosperous alumni community will lead to opportunities for business networking, career development, friendships, and community-service, in addition to fostering a continued sense of pride in our alma mater, and improving BU's publicity in China.

Due to the rapid development of China's economy in recent years, Shanghai has been in the limelight of China and the world. BUA Shanghai members have also grown dramatically. The fast economic growth in Shanghai has also enriched the lives of our Shanghai alumni. Many of our alumni are either starting up new businesses or working in the frontier departments of global industry leaders competing in China's dynamic market. It is both the energy and the pressure that have propelled Shanghai to grow at double-digit speed for more than a decade.
