Are you interested in getting emails about Alumni events in your area, but don't know how? We recognize that the BU Alumni web can sometimes be difficult to navigate, and we're here to help! Following are some links that may help you on your way to finding out what exciting events are being planned in your area as they come up:

• Instructions on how to sign up to get emails about events in your area based on where you live, and also how to sign up for emails from the ListServ for your area. (Please note that this document is in PDF format, so you will need Adobe Acrobat to view it.)
• Signing up for an Alumni ListServ. By signing up for the ListServ in your area (or in any area), you will receive event updates, as well as periodic announcements from alumni in your neck of the woods.
• Broadcast Emails: In order to sign up for Broadcast Emails, you must first register for the AlumniLink, which will give you access to the Alumni Directory, your online Transcript, and much more. When you sign up for the AlumniLink, follow the directions on the Instructions sheet (above) to register to receive emails about events and announcements in your area.

What's the difference between the ListServ and the Broadcast Emails? When sending a Broadcast Email, the database automatically selects only those email addresses in the geographical area to which the announcement applies (i.e. only people with addresses listed in the Greater Boston area will receive emails regarding events in Boston). These emails come directly from the University and are typically only about University-sponsored events or information.

Alternatively, any alum can contact the Alumni Relations office to send a message to the ListServ (e.g. about opening a new office and offering a deal to fellow alumni, etc.). These requests are filtered through Alumni Relations and every few weeks an email will go out to the ListServ with these announcements. Additionally, the ListServ is used to send updates and reminders about previously advertised events, as the Broadcast Email is only used once for each event. Furthermore, you can sign up for a ListServ in any area of the country, regardless of where you live currently (or what address you have listed in the AlumniLink).
