Devin Gladstone (COM’90) of Coconut Creek, Fla., is the Web marketing director for Food for the Poor, the largest international relief charity in the United States. E-mail him at devinglad@yahoo.com. 

Moying Li (GRS’90, GSM’93) of Boston, Mass., received the International Reading Association’s Young Adult Nonfiction Award for her memoir, Snow Falling in Spring (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2008). Moying grew up in Beijing during the Cultural Revolution. She left China in 1980 to pursue graduate studies, earning an M.B.A and a Ph.D. from BU. She is a senior vice president and equity analyst for a Boston-based investment management firm and has lectured and written about business and social issues in China.

Michael Lipton (CAS’90, MED’90) of Passaic, N.J., is associate director of the Gruss Magnetic Resonance Research Center at Yeshiva University’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Michael is the founding director of the division of radiology research at Montefiore Medical Center, where he maintains the translational neuroimaging laboratory.

Marcia Nizzari (MET’90) of Needham, Mass., left the Broad Institute in September 2008 to become director of software development, biomedical applications, at Cambridge Research and Instrumentation in Woburn, Mass. Her work involves supervision of algorithm development for computer vision applications that automate identification of tissue types and morphologies, such as distinguishing cancer from noncancer.

Beth Tornek Schulman (CGS’88, COM’90) of Charlotte, N.C., writes that she and her husband, David, relocated to the area for the warmer climate and “a break from the Jets.” She reports having a great time raising her children, Ben, 12, Sydney, 10, and Sam, 6, and gearing up for her first bar mitzvah. Beth volunteers with the homeless and spends free time with her family, hiking, kayaking, and fishing. She sends a big hello to the Class of ’90.

Eric Zukoski (LAW’90) of Fort Worth, Tex., released a new jazz CD, An Old Sweet Song (Seabreeze Jazz/Allegro Distribution, 2008), last November. The album features jazz interpretations of popular compositions not normally associated with the jazz genre, such as The Blue Danube waltz by Johann Strauss and Maria Muldaur’s “Midnight at the Oasis.”

1991
Willy Conley (GRS’91) of Hanover, Md., published his first collection of plays, Vignettes of the Deaf Character and Other Plays (Gallaudet University Press, 2009). “It is, perhaps, the very first collection of plays ever published by a deaf playwright in America,” he writes. Three of his poems were recently published in Deaf American Poetry (Gallaudet University Press, 2009). Willy, a graduate of BU’s Creative Writing Program, is a professor and chair of the theater arts department at Gallaudet University.
 
Sue Spielman (MET’91) of Conifer, Colo., is coauthor of Coyote Goes Global (O Books, 2009). The book is “a true tale of the continuous discoveries of nature’s mysteries,” she writes.

Stefanie (Schulz) Brutsch (CGS’90, COM’92) of Mesa, Ariz., started a new career in rebate management at Coleman Hines, Inc., an energy management firm in Phoenix. Elisa Donozo (COM’92) of Portland, Ore., was selected by the Portland Business Journal as one of the 2009 top 40 Oregon business leaders under age 40. Elisa is an associate attorney at the law firm Miller Nash.

Minoo Taheri (SED’93) of New York, N.Y., and her husband, Robert, had their first child, Roya Lily Becker, on June 6, 2009. After 15 years in finance and new media, Minoo left the corporate world to buy two Häagen-Dazs ice cream shops in New York City with a longtime friend and business partner. “It’s been a fun and delicious experience,” Minoo writes. “Here’s an open invitation to all our fellow NYC-area (and visiting) BU alums to visit for dessert.”

Dawn Lombardi (CFA’94) of Farmington, Conn., was named Farmington Citizen of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce. When she wrote, she was planning to show her paintings at the Barney Library in Farmington in August.

James Lavino (CGS’93, CAS’95) of London, England, composed the score of the HBO documentary film Which Way Home, which premiered in April at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. James was commissioned to write a piece for the choir of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. Charles, Prince of Wales, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Andrew, Duke of York, were present when the new piece, “They Have Become Bright Stars,” premiered on May 8 at the cathedral. Mike McDougall (COM’95) of Mendon, N.Y., is vice president of corporate communications and public affairs for Bausch and Lomb. Michaelangelo Nicolazzo (CAS’95) of Dover, Mass., writes that he is “happily married and fully devoted to my wonderful and beautiful wife, Karicaty. I have been further blessed with two other ‘girls’ in my life (they are my life), Taina, 10, and my new cherub, Natalia. I have continued my collegiate tradition of eccentricity and unorthodoxy, as my current occupation is that of a homemaker, and my wife is the ‘provider.’” In addition, Michaelangelo is earning a master’s degree in international relations from Harvard University. “After that, I will most surely continue my studies, as I am going to be 39 years old this November, and having promised many that I would be a career student, I am already halfway there.”
