Wasim Khan (SPH’96) of Parsippany, N.J., ran for the New Jersey state senate in the fall, running on the campaign platform Green for Your Health. Despite winning the Democratic primary in his district, he was defeated in the general election.

Jacqueline Mortz (CFA’96), formerly of San Francisco, Calif., who died on September 3, 2001, was memorialized in a posthumous art show at the Live Worms Gallery in San Francisco. Her mother, Sharon Mortz, organized the show, which featured Jacquie’s work as an artist, designer, and illustrator, to commemorate the anniversary of her death.

Ameek Ashok Ponda (LAW’96) of Boston, Mass., a partner and codirector of the tax department of the law firm Sullivan and Worcester, was elected to the American Law Institute. He was also chosen as one of Boston Business Journal’s “40 Under 40,” a group of young business leaders and innovators.

Jeffrey Takle (CAS’96, SMG’96) of Somerville, Mass., runs www.RentingYourHome.com, which was recently selected for Babson College’s F. W. Olin Development Hatchery program. The program provides administrative, advisory, and funding support for promising entrepreneurial ventures.

Hannah (Goldenberg) Venit (CAS’96) of Cheltenham, Pa., married Kyle Venit in Wynnewood, Pa., on August 26, 2006. Michelle Sullivan (COM’95), Craig Peluso (CAS’96), Andrew Todd (CAS’96), Barbara Uhr Eichenholz (CAS’96), Erin Hirsch Josendale (SMG’96), Diana Pankevich (GRS’06), Amy (Lerner) Redgate (CAS’98), and Patrick Redgate (CAS’94) attended the wedding. Stephanie Creary (SAR’98,’00) of Boston, Mass., graduated with high honors from the M.B.A. program at Simmons College School of Management. She received the Distinguished Graduate Student Civic Engagement Award and the Susan Bulkeley Butler Accounting Award. Stephanie is a research associate in organizational studies, succession planning, and diversity management for both the Harvard Business School and the Conference Board in New York City. Daniell Hepting (CAS’98) of Brighton, Mass., a marine mammal trainer at the New England Aquarium, was featured on MTV this summer as a part of the channel’s Cool Jobs series. Daniell earned a master’s in social work from Simmons College after graduating from BU but realized that working with marine mammals was her true passion. Her job involves feeding, training, and playing with harbor and fur seals.

Sheri A. (Tenn) Klock (SAR’98,’00) of Riverdale, N.J., and Christopher J. Klock were married on September 1, 2006, in Sicklerville, N.J. Alessandra Gelmi (GRS’99) of Washington, D.C., published Who’s Afraid of Red: A Story Cycle in Three Parts (PublishAmerica, 2007), a fictionalized account of the Rwandan genocide. Alessandra has received numerous literary awards, including the Irene Leache Memorial Prize and the Amy Loveman Competition. In 2003, she was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in literature.

Jay B. Hancock (ENG’99) of Pickering, Ontario, incorporated his company as Kibbles Software, Inc. The company builds business process automation software for small and medium businesses, helping to “provide integrity where humans tend to be forgetful or produce errors, and save expense and time,” Jay writes.
