Suzanne Challinor (CAS’70) of New Canaan, Conn., will have her paintings featured in an exhibition February 9 through March 9 at the Southern Vermont Arts Center’s Yester House Gallery in Manchester, Vt.

Wayne J. Positan (CAS’70) of Essex Fells, N.J., was reappointed a trustee of the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, which promotes law-related education and a basic understanding of the legal system for New Jersey citizens. Wayne is managing director of the firm Lum, Drasco, & Positan.

Alan L. Reische (LAW’70) of Manchester, N.H., was named best corporate and commercial lawyer in New Hampshire by the organization Chambers USA. Alan is an attorney at Sheehan Phinney Bass and Green, where he focuses on transactional business matters.

Bill Harris (COM’71) of Grand Blanc, Mich., received two Emmy Awards from the Michigan chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, including one for best news anchor. Bill celebrates his 30th anniversary this year as an anchor at WJRT-TV, the ABC affiliate in Flint.

Mark Harvey (STH’71, GRS’83) of Boston, Mass., celebrates his 35th anniversary as the founder and music director of the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra, a Boston-based group that infuses jazz into religious music and church hymns. Mary Sue Donohue (CAS’72) of Deerfield Beach, Fla., a shareholder at the Boca Raton law firm Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, was named a 2007 Florida Super Lawyer by the organization Law and Politics.

Susan Gassett (MET’72) of Boston, Mass., is the founder and artistic director of City Stage Co., a participatory theater education company at the Boston Center for the Arts. She retired last August after 33 years of providing opportunities for urban children and families to participate in the performing arts. Susan received StageSource’s 2006 Theatre Hero award. Mary S. Childress (CFA’73) of Harwich, Mass., is in her ninth year as principal of Harwich Middle School on Cape Cod. She is also the chair-elect of the New England League of Middle Schools board of directors.

Clark W. Furlow (CAS’73) of St. Petersburg, Fla., is associate dean of the Tampa Law Center at Stetson University College of Law in Tampa. Clark, an expert in corporate governance and business ethics, is an associate professor of law at Stetson.

John Gillespie (MED’73) of Buffalo, N.Y., is the chief medical officer for Independent Health, a health insurance company in western New York. John is a board-certified cardiologist and an assistant professor of family medicine at the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Robert L. Holloway, Jr. (LAW’73) of Topsfield, Mass., was elected secretary of the Massachusetts Bar Association for the 2007–08 year. He is a shareholder and president of MacLean Holloway Doherty Ardiff and Morse in Peabody.

Peri Schwartz (CFA’73) of New Rochelle, N.Y., exhibited her studio paintings, drawings, and prints at the Page Bond Gallery in Richmond, Va., last October. Peri’s work is represented in the collections of several museums and libraries, including the British Museum, the Museum of the City of New York, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Fogg Art Museum, the Boston Museum, the Bibliothèque nationale de France, and the New York Public Library.

Nathan Birnbaum (SDM’74) of Waban, Mass., is chairman of the Health Professions Team at Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston. Nathan is an associate clinical professor of prosthodontics and operative dentistry at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He and his wife, Robin Birnbaum (SON’76), have a daughter, Heidi, a senior dental student at Tufts, who is looking forward to joining her father in his Wellesley practice in June.

Mark Gottsegen (CFA’74) of Climax, N.C., will resign from teaching at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in January 2008 to work full-time as the materials research director for the Intermuseum Conservation Association. Donna Rossetti-Bailey (CFA’74) of Marshfield, Mass., won Best of Show at the Duxbury Art Association’s 90th Annual Mid-Summer Art Show for her soft pastel Willowbrook Revisited. Israel Goldowitz (CAS’75) of Washington, D.C., is chief counsel of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, the federal agency that insures private-sector pensions. The office has celebrated several recent victories, including a unanimous Supreme Court decision that reinforced the core values of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

Robert J. McDonough (LAW’75) of Lexington, Mass., was elected president of Tax Executives Institute, an association of tax professionals. Robert is senior vice president of corporate tax and treasurer of Polaroid Corporation in Waltham.

Michael O’Donovan (SED’75) of Baghdad, Iraq, is a contractor with the U.S. State Department, working as an operations manager and a deputy project manager. Michael earned an Ed.M. in counseling and human services from BU.

Susan G. Anderson (LAW’76) of Wellesley, Mass., is cochair of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s health law section. Susan is general counsel for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs and a senior fellow at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

Clare (Manion) Dunsford (GRS’76,’85) of Wellesley, Mass., published a memoir about having a son with Fragile X syndrome, Spelling Love with an X: A Mother, a Son, and the Gene That Binds Them (Beacon Press, 2007). Clare earned a Ph.D. in English from BU, taught at Harvard and Boston College, and is an associate dean at Boston College. Mary E. Kennard (MET’76, CGS’74) of Bethesda, Md., is one of the Washington Business Journal’s new “Top Washington Lawyers.” Mary is vice president and general counsel at American University, as well as chief legal counsel and secretary of the university’s board of trustees.

Gary Ford (LAW’77) of Bethesda, Md., is the general counsel for MicroCredit Enterprises, a nonprofit organization that grants small loans to women in the developing world to combat poverty and hunger. He is also a partner at the Groom Law Group, where he serves on the firm’s executive committee.

Steve Silverman (COM’78) of Grayslake, Ill., a freelance writer and broadcaster for outlets such as MSNBC.com and NFL.com, just finished writing his first two books: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: Heart-Pounding, Jaw-Dropping, and Gut-Wrenching Moments in Minnesota Vikings History (Triumph Books, 2007) and a similar volume on the Philadelphia Eagles, which will be published in 2008.
