Ami Porder (CAS’80) of Alpharetta, Ga., is a senior and executive producer for the Weather Channel in Atlanta. Previously, she worked for CNN and Turner Broadcasting for 10 years and has been executive producer of shows for HGTV, MTV, Disney, ABC, ESPN, and the Discovery Channel. Sheri L. (Tucker) Risler (SMG’81) of Lafayette Hill, Pa., is a professor of accounting practice at the Fox School of Business at Temple University.

Allan Russell (SED’81) of Barre, Mass., who retired after 25 years of teaching at Mount Wachusett Community College and 42 years in total of employment by the commonwealth of Massachusetts, writes, “I will continue to be an active member of several paleontological societies in my retirement years and to teach an occasional course at local colleges.”

John Clayton (COM’82) of Manchester, N.H., a columnist with the New Hampshire Union Leader, won the 2007 Best Local Column honors from the New England Associated Press News Executives Association, his third win in this category. Eileen F. Morrison (CAS’83, LAW’86) of Newton, Mass., was appointed to the American Immigration Lawyers Association Vermont Service Center liaison committee. Eileen writes that she is continuing to have fun practicing business immigration law in Newtonville, Mass., representing corporations, investors, professionals, and performing artists seeking visas to live and work in the United States. She is also the vice president of the board of Second Step, which provides services to survivors of domestic violence. Eileen and her husband, Michael Jablon (SED’87), have been married for 19 years and have two children.

Kathleen (Estrada-Palma) Murray (CAS’84) of McLean, Va., works part-time as a neonatal intensive care nurse. She and her husband, Neil Francis Murray, were married on November 1, 2003, and are the proud parents of Molly Ann Murray, born on June 23, 2005. Neil is an economist for the federal government.

Todd Summer (SMG’86) of San Diego, Calif., was promoted to campus stores director of course materials at Aztec Shops in San Diego. He is responsible for running four stores serving San Diego State University.

Deborah Washington (SON’86) of Brookline, Mass., was named Nurse of the Year in the category of Advancing and Leading the Profession by Nursing Spectrum magazine. The award recognizes the contributions nurses make to their patients, to one another, and to the profession. Deborah is director of patient care services at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Duilio Cori (CAS’87) of Lima, Peru, was delighted to see Paul Chen (COM’87) in an NROTC photo in the fall 2007 Bostonia. “What a nice surprise to see a friend after 20 years,” he writes. “I still remember the times we used to go to the small Chinese restaurant on Comm. Daniel Gibson (CAS’88) of Atlantic Highlands, N.J., a veteran of many BU Stage Troupe productions, is a stagehand at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, N.J. He has worked for the likes of Bruce Springsteen, John Stewart, Aretha Franklin, and many others. David John (MED’88) of Boston, Mass., was appointed director of emergency services at Caritas Carney Hospital in Boston. David spent the last six years as medical director of quality risk management and associate chair of emergency services at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, Conn.

Michael “Zappy” Zapolin (SMG’88) of Lexington, Mass., runs Kabala.com, a Web site that aims to educate the public about the tenets of the Kabala faith and how it applies to business, health, and daily life. He recently released a DVD, Kabala: Peace Through Sharing, and a set of “Ask the Kabala” oracle cards that he created with Deepak Chopra.

Melissa (Hanson) Holden (COM’89) of Quincy, Ill., recently became executive director of the YWCA Quincy, where she administers housing programs for homeless women and their children.
