Sally D’Angelo (COM’96) of San Rafael, Calif., and her husband, Scott Frerich, had identical twin boys, Daniel Joseph and James Nicholas, on June 6, 2008. The twins were born just two minutes apart. Michelle Di Giovanni (SED’96) of Clinton, N.J., a seventh-grade prealgebra teacher at Clinton Township Middle School, was among four exceptional New Jersey secondary school teachers to be honored at received a $5,000 award from Princeton University’s at its 2008 Ccommencement. The honor was given to four secondary school teachers from around the state. Michelle, a graduate of the Princeton School of Engineering and Applied Science, has been teaching for 10 years.
Jeffrey R. Docking (GRS’96) of Adrian, Mich., received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Ill., where he earned a master’s of divinity in 1987.

Sam Swartz (CFA’96) of El Paso, Tex., had his debut at Carnegie Hall in June 2007. He was a featured soloist with the student orchestra of Coronado High School, his alma mater. Sam performed an original piece by Dick Goodwin that was commissioned for the event. An encore performance was held at the high school’s new theater in El Paso in November 2007. Bob Hines (ENG’97) of Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., recently graduated from the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School. During the one-year course, he flew 30 different types of airplanes, ranging from World War II-–era fighters to the modern F-15E and the U-2 spy plane. Bob, who lives with his wife, Kelli, and his two children, Catie, five, and Sarah, one, was assigned to assigned to Eglin, where he will be performing flight tests on all models of the F-15, new radar systems, and air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons. Mirja “Mia” Koskimaki (LAW’97) of Espoo, Finland, was appointed is chief counsel and head of unit for the international lending legal support unit at Nordic Investment Bank. The bank, which is co-owned by eight Northern European governments, is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland.

Diana (Laramore) Okada (CAS’98) of New York, N.Y., married Takeshi Okada on September 9, 2006, on Nantucket, Mass. Robert J. Aguilera (SHA’99) officiated the ceremony, and his wife, Margaret Buonanno (SAR’98), attended. Diana earned a master’s in acupuncture from the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in 2007 and runs her own practice, Simply Acupuncture NYC.
Sarah Elizabeth (Hovey) Olson (SAR’98,’00) of Kirkland, Wash., climbed Mount Hood as part of the Climb to Fight Breast Cancer, a fundraiser for the Seattle-based Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. She pledged to raise $3,000 in honor of her great-grandmother, a friend, and a coworker, all of whom successfully fought breast cancer.
Gina Malloy Primmer (COM’98) of Council Bluffs, Iowa, is executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs, an affiliate founded by her father 15 years ago. She was married in October 2006 to Chad Primmer, a criminal and personal injury attorney. Several BU alums were in the wedding party: Talia Hagler (COM’98) and Kathy Nirdlinger (CAS’98) were bridesmaids, Jennifer (Chianese) Rifenburg (CAS’98) read a piece written by the BU girls, and Sandra (Femino) Kimball (CAS’98) sang. Gina and Chad welcomed their son, Jon Douglas, on September 16, 2007 — eight weeks earlier than expected. “Everyone is now very healthy and happy and doing great,” Gina writes. Prospero Uybarreta (ENG’98) of Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., a Mmajor in the U.S. Air Force, is a student at the Air Force Test Pilot School. Previously, he served as an E-3 aircraft instructor pilot, as well as the exchange instructor pilot to the Indian Air Force, flying Kiran jet trainers. Michael Jacobson (SMG’99) of New York, N.Y., who cofounded the Internet company Modern Consumer in 2002, has successfully grown and sold his business to Red Ventures, based in Charlotte, N.C. Modern Consumer operates one of the Web’s largest lead-generation and distribution networks serving the automotive finance industry.
Jennifer (Housell) Kellogg (COM’99) of South Elgin, Ill., and her husband, Russell, announce the birth of their daughter, Karolina Ava, on September 16, 2007. Jennifer was recently promoted to convention center sales manager from her previous position as event manager at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center.
