Jeffrey R. Docking (GRS’96) of Venetia, Pa., was elected the 17th president of Adrian College, a private liberal arts college associated with the United Methodist Church, in February. Jeffrey was previously the vice president and special assistant to the president at Washington and Jefferson College. He and his wife, Elizabeth, have four children, ages 17, 15, 13, and 9.

Robert T. Flynn (SHA’96) of Watertown, Mass., director of operations with Bon Appetít Management Company, spoke at the May 2005 commencement ceremonies of Newbury College in Brookline, Mass. He also gave a speech about conflict resolution at a leadership conference recently. Robert is looking forward to attending the weddings of Billy Snow (UNI’96) and Marc Bender (SMG’96, SED’03) this summer, he writes, “especially after seeing Chris Hulton (CAS’95) and Manan Trivedi (CAS’96,’00, MED’00) take the plunge last year.” E-mail him at rflynn@cafebonappetit.com.

Matthew M. Harper (CAS’96) of Seattle, Wash., is the combat systems officer aboard the U.S.S. Shoup-DDG 86, which is returning from a five-month surge deployment with the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln. Both ships just completed humanitarian relief efforts off the coast of Sumatra following the December tsunami. Susan Hart (CAS’96) of Braintree, Mass., a seven-year probation officer at Quincy District Court, was one of 10 probation officers in Massachusetts honored at the 2005 Probation Employee Recognition Awards Ceremony on April 1. A captain in the Army National Guard, Susan served with the 1058th National Guard and toured Iraq from January to February 2005. She has nearly completed a master’s degree in social work at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and volunteers at Bay State Community Service.

Melisma Cox (CAS’97) of Brussels, Belgium, received a master’s degree in teaching English as a second language from the University of Pennsylvania last May. Melissa Fleming (CAS’97) of New York, N.Y., is executive director of the National Association of Women Artists, the oldest professional women’s fine arts organization in the United States. She is an internationally exhibited artist with photographs in the permanent collections of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Museo de la Fotografia, Argentina. Melissa is working on her master of fine arts degree at Parsons School of Design in New York City.

Linda Seid Frembes (COM’97) of Douglas, Mass., left public relations for a year and a half not long after graduation but realized she was “truly a COM-mie at heart.” Two years ago, she founded a PR and writing services company, Total Focus Communications, to serve the professional audio and AV industries. Matthew Orefice (CAS’97) of Yonkers, N.Y., writes, “Red Sox fans, rejoice. It will never happen again. I am currently a black belt in San Ken Ryu karate, training for the national championships. I can now break blocks of ice with only my head. Besides that, I’m just being righteous. Shout-outs to all my homeboys and homegirls from BU. Lean back!”

Shin Yu Pai (CAS’97) of Dallas, Tex., announces the publication of her new chapbook of poems, Unnecessary Roughness, out from xPress, a publisher of experimental poetry. William F. Ward (SMG’97) of New York, N.Y., has completed four years of active duty with the U.S. Army and two years at Columbia Business School. He works in real estate private equity at Lazard Freres, a global investment bank. Tammy Fuller Agria (SAR’98) of Milford, Conn., and her husband, Emery, announce the birth of their first child, Beckett Bradley Agria, on September 1, 2004. Jennifer Chu Hall (ENG’98) of Glastonbury, Conn., won a 2005 Engineer of the Year award in the New England district from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Michael Kolodny (COM’98, CGS’96) of Chicago, Ill., is the producer of CBS Sports’ College Basketball’s 25 Greatest Players, which aired nationally on April 9 following the John Wooden Awards presentation. The hour-long program featured interviews with 17 of the top 25 players, including Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Bill Russell. John Malkovich was host, and Ashley Judd and Bob Barker made appearances. Mike works for Intersport, an independent production house in Chicago. Prospero A. Uybarreta (ENG’98) of Teaneck, N.J., is a U.S. Air Force captain and the U.S.-Indian Air Force Exchange Officer, based in Hyderabad, India. There he teaches advanced flying in the Kiran jet trainer to cadets at the Indian Air Force Academy. Stefano Zapperi (GRS’98) of Rome, Italy, received a Marie Curie Excellence Award from the European Union (EU). The award recognizes the achievements of researchers who have benefited from EU-funded programs. Stefano’s research focuses on finding common patterns in apparently different materials.

Danielle Brandman (CAS’99) of Nutley, N.J., graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in May 2005 and will perform her internal medicine residency at the University of California at San Francisco. Danielle plans to subspecialize in gastroenterology. During her medical school career, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society, was the winner of the American Medical Writers Association’s Glasgow-Rubin Achievement Citation, and was involved in numerous extracurricular activities. “And yes, she’s still dancing!” writes Danielle.
