Meet the Telefund Callers
Caller Spotlight ::
BEVERLY LLOYD (COM’08), an advertising major and a
Telefund caller since January 2006, knows a thing or
two about how to market a product. But as a student
caller seeking alumni contributions to the Annual Fund,
BU’s University-wide fund for scholarships and student
resources, she fi nds that she has to sell something entirely
different: herself.
Beverly says that she has found the best way to
connect with BU alums is by reminding them of what it was
like to be a student, sharing common experiences, telling
her own stories, or in many cases, letting curious older
alumni know what still stands from their days on the everevolving
BU campus.
Her friendly phone demeanor has paid off in notso-
obvious ways — one gregarious caller rattled off a list of Comm. Ave.
restaurants for her,
wanting to know if they were still around.
She hopes
to pursue a career
as an advertising executive after graduation — and by attending BU, she
adds, she’s already on
the right track. “BU has defi nitely helped, especially with contacting
ad agencies,” she says. “They all say they love BU students.”
