History of the Boston University EMBA Charitable Fund
The Boston University EMBA Charitable Fund was established in 2000, with a gift from the twelfth class of the Executive MBA Program. In establishing this fund, students plan to give back to the community a portion of the quality education the Boston University community has provided them. EMBA 12 hoped that this would encourage each subsequent EMBA class to maintain and augment this Fund in perpetuity and challenged future classes to demonstrate corporate citizenship and social responsibility by ensuring the funds growth in years to come. The EMBA Charitable Fund is a permanently endowed fund, after the fund reaches $100,000 the income may be applied to charitable purposes through the University's wide network of programs.
Subsequent Executive MBA classes have enthusiastically contributed up to 50% of their respective class gifts to the EMBA Charitable Fund, which today stands at $96,000, and the remainder towards an immediate philanthropic gift to a worthy nonprofit organization of the class' choice.
