Background

The School of Hospitality Administration is a specialized business school that prepares students for careers as managers within the food and travel industries. Areas of concentration include hotels, restaurants, cruise lines, travel agencies, airlines, theme parks, convention centers, and sports stadiums. Graduates are also qualified to work for companies that provide goods and services to the hospitality industry, including consulting firms, investment banks, and food manufacturers. Most SHA graduates accept entry-level management jobs with multinational hotel and restaurant companies.

SHA currently has 400-plus full-time undergraduate students from more than twenty countries enrolled in its four-year bachelor’s degree program.

Recent News and Accomplishments

  • SHA was recently ranked among the top twenty hospitality management programs in the United States by a study in the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Education.
  • SHA projects the completion of its $4 million building capital campaign by December 2007. One hundred percent of the funds raised were from SHA alumni, parents, and industry friends. The new building is located at 928 Commonwealth Avenue, across the street from the new Agganis Arena and the Student Village, and opened at the beginning of the 2006–2007 academic year.
