Contribute to the ENG Annual Fund
College of Engineering Annual Fund:
Support for the Engineering Annual Fund (EAF) allows the Dean to fund a variety of student-centered programs that truly make a difference in the education and experience of our students. These programs help us produce more well-rounded “societal” engineers with a broad perspective, able to think in all dimensions of science, education, and society.
Programs supported by the EAF include:
- The Summer Term Alumni Research Scholars (STARS) program
- The Supplemental Undergraduate Research Funds (SURF) program
- The BU Chapter of Engineers Without Borders
- The BU Nano-Satellite program
- Several undergraduate clubs, including The BU Society of Women Engineers (SWE), The Minority Engineers Society (MES) and The Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHPE)
- The Excellence in Engineering Book Awards
More details on how the ENG Annual Fund supports these programs can be found at http://www.bu.edu/alumni/eng/giving/ENG_Annual_Fund_Uses_Detail.pdf.
SPECIAL INITIATIVE: Clean Energy and Environmental Sustainability Initiative
Contributions to the ENG Annual Fund will help support the Clean Energy and Environmental Sustainability Initiative (CEESI) - a multi-disciplinary initiative to address the issues of energy generation, efficient use and management of energy resources in the context of sustaining a clean environment. Our motivation is to take a forward-looking approach to prepare for a world where increasing demand for energy resources must be attended to while minimally impacting the planet and all advanced life forms on it.
The mission of CEESI will be to coordinate a university wide vision for research and academic activities at the interface of technology, policy, climate science, market economics, and systems integration as they relate to the challenge of balancing energy needs with and environmental and economic sustainability. An exciting eventuality might be the establishment of a formal university wide Center co-directed by faculty from Engineering, Management and Arts and Sciences.
As part of our efforts towards addressing the energy challenge, a day-long seminar was hosted by Boston University on May 21st, bringing 168 guests from industry, venture capital and academia to hear from leaders in energy management. See https://www.bu.edu/phpbin/news-cms/news/?dept=666&id=53609 for a review of the seminar or visit http://www.bu.edu/se/news/EnergySeminar_May2009/index.html for the seminar website.
Make your contribution below to help continue our efforts to have Boston University take a leadership role in the energy challenge.
I care deeply about our environment, oil dependence and its impact upon national security plus future economic opportunities available to our kids and grand kids. That is why it's important to create an economy that is based upon green and sustainable energies. To achieve this we need to educate hundreds of thousands of young professionals with the skills necessary to re-tool our economy with green jobs. That is what the CEESI program is all about. So please contribute what you can to this important program and make our world a little greener for everyone and a brighter future for our kids
