Men's Ice Hockey to Face Off Against Boston College at Fenway Park

Mark your calendars as the 2009 NCAA National Champion Boston University men's ice hockey team will take on archrival Boston College on Friday, January 8, 2010 at historic Fenway Park as part of a Hockey East doubleheader. The Terriers and Eagles will take the ice at 7:30 p.m. after the women’s ice hockey teams from New Hampshire and Northeastern face off at 4 p.m. New England Sports Network (NESN) will broadcast the game live from Fenway Park across New England.

“This is not only a tremendous thrill for our program, but for our entire university,” said Jack Parker, who is entering his 37th season as the head coach of the Terriers. “Having spent my entire life in Boston - and most of it just down the street from Fenway Park - I’ll probably be just as excited on Jan. 8 as our players are.”

“We have been working for more than five years to bring a college hockey game to Fenway Park and I’m very grateful to the Red Sox and Hockey East for helping to bring this idea to fruition. It’s great for college hockey and another extraordinary opportunity for BU,” said BU Director of Athletics Mike Lynch. “I encourage all Terrier fans, students, alumni, faculty and staff to purchase tickets for this historic event.”

The Fenway contest will be one of two BU hockey games played at an iconic American sporting venue this upcoming season, as the Terriers will also take on Cornell in the second round of Red Hot Hockey at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday, Nov. 28. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, Sept. 17, beginning at 12 p.m., but pre-sale opportunities will be held in advance of Sept. 17 for special BU constituencies, including but not limited to men's ice hockey season ticket holders, students and alumni. More information about those pre-sales will be posted on www.GoTerriers.com as it becomes available.

Tickets for the doubleheader will start at just $5. For more information on the event and details regarding ticket availability, please log on to www.tickets.com/fenwayhockey.
