Message from the BUAC President
I am honored to serve the BU “family” as president of the Boston University Alumni Association (BUAA). In my role as a volunteer and president, I’ve had the opportunity to meet wonderful students, fantastic faculty, and inspiring alumni.
You can find members of the BU family all over the world. We are not only a large family, but a powerful network of leaders, doers and influencers, and together we are contributing to making the world a better place.
The Boston University Alumni Council (BUAC) is the leadership group for the BUAA. It draws upon the tremendous dedication and expertise of 37 alumni who represent the schools and colleges that make up Boston University. The 37 members of the council serve as an important voice to university leadership, and work actively to engage alumni in meaningful ways with BU and with one another.
The following four principles serve as the bedrock of the BUAC foundation:
- Service – BUAC members not only serve as advocates for BU alumni, but also serve as ambassadors for the university and the alumni association both on campus and in our communities around the world.
- Connection – By connecting more than 65 alumni networks, groups and boards through the Alumni Leadership Forum (ALF), the BUAC brings together alumni leaders to advance our individual affinities and connections to support “One BU”.
- Engagement – Working with the Office of Alumni Relations and each college and school the BUAC provides a wealth of opportunities for alumni engagement. From Global Days of Service, to the Career Advisory Network, to professional panels and affinity groups, the BUAC is committed to creating an alumni association that works for you.
- Excellence – We all were fortunate enough to receive a BU education. The members of the BUAC are committed to making that education available to deserving young individuals. We actively encourage advocacy and philanthropic support by all BU alumni to ensure that today’s BU student – and tomorrow’s — continue a tradition of excellence.
There are over 1,000 alumni gatherings and events each year that span the globe from campus on Comm. Ave. to Dubai, to Mexico City, to San Francisco, to New York. Many of these events are made possible by the efforts of our passionate volunteers. Our next large gathering of alumni will be in September during Alumni Weekend.
It’s your alumni association. Please let us know how we can best serve you – and Boston University.
