Mark of Excellence Awards
The Society of Professional Journalism presents the Mark of Excellence Awards- honoring the best of student journalism. There are 39 categories for print, radio, television and online collegiate journalism. Awards are given regionally, regional winners then go on the national competition. Winners in this competition will be recognized at the Fall 2008 SPJ Convention and National Journalism Conference in Atlanta.
The following students from Boston University have been selected to receive Region 1 Mark of Excellence Awards.

The regional awards will be presented during the Mark of Excellence Luncheon at the upcoming Spring Conference, April 25-26, in Portland, Maine.

Red Sox, COM Students Sweep
While the Boston Red Sox were taking out the brooms in Colorado, COM advertising students completed a sweep of their own in the student category at the 47th Annual Hatch Awards presented by the Ad Club. Brian Pope (’07) won a silver and bronze bowl, while Jason Johnson (’07) and George O’Connor (’07) won bronze bowls in the student category.
