- Help current music students cover tuition costs
- Support the maintenance and updating of School of Music facilities
- Subsidize the building of sets and costumes for the Opera Institute’s mainstage productions
- Acquire instruments for the historical performance and world music programs
- Support student travel for competitions and conferences
College of General Studies (CGS)
- Offer supplemental financial assistance: by offering research and travel stipends, merit awards, campus jobs, and emergency aid to undergraduates
- Support faculty development: by sponsor faculty participation in conferences, symposia, and seminars, as well as to fund research projects that advance the College’s mission.
- Renovate the General Studies learning environment for quiet study, group collaboration, classes, and multimedia learning within the College.
- Upgrade technology: to commitment to upgrading computers, wireless internet connections, software, and audio and visual equipment.
- Enhance student life: to support interest groups by subsidizing forums, study groups, research projects, dinners, and other activities that enhance student life at the College and encourage faculty-student interaction.

Metropolitan College (MET)
- Student Aid: to help fund the education of students who lack the financial means or corporate support to take advantage of a MET education
- High-Quality Programs: to ensure that MET continues to attract top faculty and offer high-quality programs
- Distance Education and Online Learning: MET pioneered BU’s ventures in online learning
- Military Programs: expand its military programs at Marine headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, and Quantico, Virginia
- International Initiatives: to further develop and strengthen international education both locally and abroad
Sargent College (SAR)
- Scholarship Support: to provide immediate support when a student’s existing financial aid does not cover tuition or any unforeseen expenses.
- Renovating and Upgrading Spaces: to compete with similar institutions, continuous renovations and classroom upgrades must be made.
- Improving Technology by upgrading and replacing computers and other tools
- Enhancing Student Life: including sending first-year students to Sargent Camp, guest speakers and sending students to conferences and exhibits
- Improving Faculty Development: to attract and retain outstanding faculty members
School of Education (SED)
- Student Support: Provide for a variety of scholarships and awards, like the John Dee and Boyd Dewey Book Awards Program, to both undergraduate and graduate students
- Alumni Outreach and Mentoring: Provide alumni with opportunties to mentor new teachers and other educators; support new forms of engagement so that alumni can stay involved in the life of SED
- Bringing Instruction into the 21st Century: Support the continued use of media in every course and expansion of the number of courses and certificates offered online

The School of Law Annual Fund contributes to a wide range of student support, including PIP, financial Aid, LRAP, job placement and current Career Development Office initiatives. Last year, Dean O'Rourke used over $200,000 from the Annual Fund to support these programs, and will do so again this year.
