Alumni Directory for 2007
As of February 1, more than 48,000 alumni had completed the recent alumni questionnaire, and there’s still time to update directory information. Completed questionnaires should be sent to Boston University Directory Office, P.O. Box 41065, Norfolk, VA, 23541-1065.
The questionnaire asks about alumni interests and ways of connecting with Boston University. Responses will help guide the direction of the University and create programs that better suit alumni needs. The questionnaire will also help to produce the most up-to-date alumni directory possible.
“We are very excited about this directory project and the opportunity that it presents us,” says Meg Umlas (MET’04), executive director of alumni relations. “Not only will the directory be a wonderful reference for our alumni, but we will learn what matters most to them. The responses to the questions will help guide our programming in the future and determine some important University-wide initiatives. We look forward to sharing the results in the coming months and want to thank our alumni in advance for taking a few moments to share their thoughts with us.”
The Alumni Directory, which will list alumni by school/college, class year, and geographic location and will include current names and names at graduation, is being produced by Harris Connect, Inc., a major publisher of alumni directories. Harris will be conducting data verification by phone to ensure that it is correct. All alumni have been asked (via yellow postcard from Harris Connect) to verify the information that will be listed in the directory, even if they have submitted this data online or by U.S. mail. Starting in March, the company will also be calling alumni who have not responded to the directory questionnaire or postcard mailing.
Alumni will be able to place an order for a softcover, hardcover, CD-ROM, or combination edition of the directory during the phone-calling phase. All alumni will be listed in the directory, whether they purchase a copy or not.
Harris Connect has a dedicated toll-free number specifically for BU alumni — 877-409-2587 — forverifying or changing listings or placing orders. The information collection and verification phase of the project will wrap up in mid-April. Directories will be mailed in November to those who have pre-ordered a copy. Alumni may order a copy until mid-April by calling the number above.
