BU Meets China

New BU Alumni Association of China to hold first global gathering and networking opportunity for all BU alumni in January in Beijing, with a focus on finance and investment.

Hugo Shong (COM’87, GRS’92), president of IDG China, chairman of China Venture Capital Association, and a University trustee, will be among the speakers at the China forum. Alumni from Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines will attend as well.

The Boston University Alumni Association of China (BUAAC) will host the first worldwide business and networking forum for the entire BU community on January 18 and 19, 2008, in Beijing. The event will celebrate the establishment of the BUAAC and will enable BU alumni from around the world to meet active Chinese alums and alumni doing business in China.

 

Attending the forum will be BU President Robert Brown, Hugo Shong (COM’87, GRS’92), president of IDG China, chairman of China Venture Capital Association, and a University trustee, and Scott Nichols, BU vice president of Development and Alumni Relations.

 

Scheduled to speak at a finance and investment forum are Shong, as well as Weiqiang Han (GRS’89, GSM’89), managing director, China International Capital Corp.; Liqun Jin (GRS’88), vice president, Asian Development Bank; Fu An Li (GSM’01), director-general, China Banking Regulatory Commission; Ting Liu (CAS’83), chairman and president, Asia Link Group, Inc. and chairman, Supervisory Board, China Mergers and Acquisitions Association; Howard Zhang (LAW’93), partner, O’Melveny & Myers LLP;  and Jin Yong Cai (GRS’87,’88,’91), managing director, Goldman Sachs (China) LLC.

 

The forum will also include sessions that will enable alumni to meet one another and discuss their business ideas.

 

The event will be held on Saturday, January 19, at the JW Marriott, 83 Jianguo Road, China Central Place, Chaoyang District, Beijing. A reception will be held on Friday, January 18, at Diao Yu Tai State Guest House.
