BU’s second annual Winterfest takes place on January 20 and 21, and it promises to be even better than the first celebration. Winterfest features a wide range of lectures at the Alumni College and Terrier men’s hockey and men’s basketball games at Agganis Arena, as well as a festive dinner and ice skating at Agganis Arena.

The highlights of the Alumni College include the presentation “Through the Eyes of Alfred Hitchcock” with CGS Professor John Fawell. He’ll be showing Rear Window, followed by a lecture on film techniques of Hitchcock. Also on tap is “Bob Dylan: Just Like a Man?” This talk by CAS Professor Christopher Ricks addresses Dylan’s views on women. Ricks is the author of Dylan’s Visions of Sin.

Among the workshops is “Living a Healthy Lifestyle in More Ways Than One” with Sargent College Professor Karen Jacobs. She and two registered dietitians will answer questions after talking about how to integrate healthful eating habits into busy lifestyles.

Other Alumni College lectures include “The Best Legacy: Good Planning to Avoid Taxes and Probate,” with Law School Professor Fran Miller; “Spend ’til the End: the Economist’s Guide to Financial Health,” with economics Professor Larry Kotlikoff; and “Reducing Stress in Your Life: Finding Balance in an Unbalanced World.”

On the lighter side, there’s a wine-tasting with local wine enthusiasts, including Karen Holmes-Ward (COM’77) and BU’s Howard Thurman Center director Katherine Kennedy, both of Divas Uncorked. There will also be a festive indoor tailgate party, featuring hamburgers, vegetarian chili, chicken wings, and more.

Sports fans can cheer on the Terriers in a men’s hockey home game against the Merrimack Warriors — a limited number of tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The men’s basketball team takes on the UMBC Retrievers.
