President’s Message
President’s Message
Welcome to the Boston University Alumni Association website. It is my honor to serve as president of the Boston University Alumni Association and to chair the Boston University Alumni Council (BUAC) that serves as the central volunteer leadership organization for Boston University alumni.
The BUAC is composed of 30-35 alumni drawn from a majority of the schools and colleges; across class years; and from a world-wide geography. The BUAC represents alumni interests and concerns to the University; encourages alumni of Boston University to remain active members of the BU community; and encourages alumni to find meaningful ways to connect and reconnect to the University and to each other.
The BUAC has four major areas of emphasis:
Service
BUAC members serve as ambassadors in the communities in which they reside and actively support the mission of the Office of Alumni Relations.Connections
The BUAC serves as the core of alumni activities at Boston University, interacting with the school and college alumni boards, regional and international alumni clubs, the student alumni association and alumni affinity groups to assist in furthering their goals of reaching out to and connecting with alumni.Recognizing Excellence
The BUAC sponsors the annual Alumni Awards where outstanding Boston University alumni are honored for contributions to their professions, community and the University.Advancing the University
The BUAC encourages alumni to support Boston University not only financially but by becoming involved in University activities such as joining a local alumni club or affinity group; serving as a career mentor; or attending University events on-campus or in locations around the world.
I hope to see many of you at Alumni Weekend in October, at Winterfest Weekend in early 2010 or at one of the many University events held off-campus. Look for major enhancements to the BU Alumni website that will be rolled out over the next few months. We welcome your comments and suggestions.
