Name: Audrey Marks (COM’08)
Hometown: Grove City, Pennsylvania
Newsroom assignment: New London (Connecticut) Day
Internship: Boston Globe, Washington, D.C., Bureau
Best Assignment: I really enjoyed covering the Higher Education Cost Reduction Act. I followed the bill through Congress and went to the White House when President Bush signed it into law.

Name: Dan Ankeles (COM’08)
Hometown: Peabody, Massachusetts
Newsroom assignment: Cape and Islands Public Radio
Internship: Marketplace
Best Assignment: I had a really fun spot on a new War Powers bill. I got two really quick, crisp sound bites (one of them from a presidential candidate), mixed them with some really tight writing, and ended up with my best work of the semester. This was the clip I showed to all my friends and family when they asked me what I’d been doing in Washington all semester.

Name: Rebekah Metzler (COM’08)
Hometown: Hancock, Maine
Newsroom assignment: Bangor (Maine) Daily News
Internship: Gannett News Service

Best Assignment: I interviewed some World War II veterans who were honored by French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Veteran Charles Shay of Maine, a member of the Penobscot tribe, was among six other U.S. veterans recognized for contributions to the liberation of France. I was able to attend the ceremony featuring Shay and Sarkozy at the French ambassador’s house.
