Ulrich Keil, MD
Professor Dr. Ulrich Keil is at the Institute of Epidemiology and Social Medicine, University of Münster, Germany. He serves as the Director of the WHO CC for epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular and other chronic diseases.
Dr. Keil’s career has focused on the epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, and has included participation in the WHO MONICA project, the EUROASPIRE I,II,III project and the European SCORE(systematic coronary risk evaluation) project. Studying the impact of passive smoking on cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in Germany has also been one of his research endeavours. He has studied the relationships between alcohol consumption and blood pressure and alcohol intake and coronary heart disease using data from the MONICA project Augsburg. Lately he has also studied the impact of the ADH polymorphism on coronary heart disease.
