Career Advising Sessions:
As always, we will hold Career Advising Sessions with speakers from various art-related fields. Speakers provide a brief overview of their jobs, and what it takes to get there, followed by a question-and-answer period.
Past Sessions for the 2007-2008 School Year
Tuesday, April 15, 2008 - Miscellaneous Art Careers
Where? TBA
When? 7 pm
A panel of 3-4 speakers will discuss what you can do with an art history degree, followed by a Q&A session with attendees. Ariel Pittman of the Judi Rotenberg Gallery will discuss how she went right from undergrad to the gallery world; Kyle Ludke of the Nichols House Museum will discuss working in a non=fine art museum; others will discuss
auction-house work and teaching.
Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 - Internships
Where? CAS, rm. 312
When? 6:00 pm
Speakers from the MFA, ICA, and Fogg will discuss how to find an internship, what it means to be an intern, and the benefits of internships.
Additionally, we will discuss how you can get academic credit for your internship and introduce our new “Buddy scheme” program between AHA and GSAHA – a networking and informational tool to help you get the internship you want and then make the most of it.

Speakers included: Amy Sutherland, a former arts reviewer/critic; Allyson Lee, an auction house marketing & fine arts director; Beth Urdang, a downtown gallery owner; Melanie Hall, professor and represented for museum work; Bethany Farrell, art and architecture assistant manager at Trinity Church; and Ariel Pittman, an art gallery manager.
Nov. 7, 2006 – Graduate School
Graduate students from BU and Tufts gave their advice on when to go to graduate school and discussed their experiences with their careers and academic work.
These casual sessions are to help you decide on a potential career path, so if there is a field you are interested in pursuing, please let us know and we will try our best to find someone in that field to speak to the AHA.
