Philip Berrigan
Philip Berrigan (author page at Amazon), a 76-year-old former Josephite
priest and longtime activist, was, like his brother Daniel, a member
of the Cantonsville Nine. He is currently serving a thirty-month
sentence for “malicious destruction of property” in connection
with a protest in December 1999 during which Berrigan and the three
other members (Susan Crane, Steve Kelly SJ, and Elizabeth Walz)
of “Plowshares vs. Depleted Uranium” hammered and poured
blood on two U.S.A-10 “Warthog” fighter planes, the kind
they believed was responsible for firing ninety-five percent of
the depleted uranium in the war against Iraq and were used extensively
against the people of former Yugoslavia, resulting in radioactive
poisoning. His autobiography, Fighting the Lamb's War: Skirmishes
with the American Empire, was published in September 1996 by
Common Courage Press. (2001).
