George Seferis

George Seferis, born in Smyrna in 1900, received the 1963 Nobel Prize for Literature. The author of nine collections of poems and six books of prose, Seferis is well known for his Greek translation of T. S. Eliot’s The Wasteland. He died on September 20, 1971, in Athens. (7/2010)
