Sumita Chakraborty

Sumita Chakraborty is poetry editor of AGNI and has been a member of the editorial team since 2006. Her poetry, criticism, and scholarship have appeared or are forthcoming in PoetryThe Los Angeles Review of BooksCultural Critique, and elsewhere. In 2017 she received a Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship from the Poetry Foundation and was shortlisted in 2018 for the Forward Prize for Best Single Poem by the Forward Arts Foundation (U.K.). She recently completed her first collection of poems, O Spirit, and is working on a scholarly book project provisionally titled The Poetics of Ethics in the Anthropocene. She also serves as art editor of At Length and holds a doctorate in English from Emory University. In 2018–2019, she will be visiting assistant professor of women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, as well as a lecturer in English and creative writing, at Emory. (updated 5/2018)
