Core And Related Courses

African Studies courses include core courses with 100 percent African content, and a wide variety of other courses regularly taught by core faculty which contain significant African content. In addition to those listed, most departments offer courses in directed study and independent work with Africanist faculty.

The center has developed an African Studies Minor for undergraduates, who are encouraged to enroll in a wide variety of African Studies courses, including advanced courses (with permission of the instructor). Undergraduates may contact the center for a list of courses approved for the minor. A description of the requirements for the Graduate Certificate in African Studies is available upon request.
