The
Agreement on Strengthening Links between Boston University
African Studies Center and Harvard University Committee on
African Studies
Purpose:
The
purpose of this agreement is to increase the course offerings
in African studies available to graduate students at Boston
University and Harvard University (in the Faculty of Arts
and Sciences) through limited student exchange.
Eligibility:
Graduate
students specializing in African studies at either institution
are eligible to take advantage of this program.
Scope:
Under
the terms of this agreement eligible graduate students at
either institution may request permission to take graduate
level courses, with at least 50% Africa content. at the other
institution, providing that the course is not available at
their own institution.
Procedure:
- Graduate
students who wish to take advantage of this agreement must
obtain:
- the
written permission of the instructor offering the course;
-
the
written approval of an Africanist faculty member at their
own institution with whom they will register for a Directed
Study course;
- the
written approval of a coordinator appointed by the Director
of Chairman of the Africa program at their institution.
After meeting
these requirements the student will register for a directed
study or research course with the Africanist faculty member
at his/her own institution.
The
student will then complete all requirements for the course.
After all work is completed, the instructor will write a letter
of evaluation including a letter grade to the faculty member
with whom the student has registered for a Directed Study.
This
arrangement involves neither official cross-registration nor
the payment of fees between the cooperating institutions..
