For National Geographic, this is the year of Africa. Of course every year is the year of Africa. I hope you will take advantage of our many many resources:
- Our eye-popping poster says it all: How Big Is Africa? which shows how all of Europe + the US + China can easily fit inside Africa. The poster comes with a detailed teaching guide for all grades. www.bu.edu/africa/outreach
- Our website has lesson plans, primary documents, teaching tips especially for Africa, links to the best sites for teaching about Africa and much more. Our website features a lively interactive web-based overview ÒAfrica True or False: come exploreÓ www.bu.edu/africa/outreach
- Our lending library is for teachers with 2,000 books for children and teens, plus 300 curriculum guides, 200 videos & DVDs, clothing to borrow, traveling kits and more. WeÕre generally open M-F 9-5, but email or call before you come to be sure we havenÕt stepped out. 617-353-7303 africa@bu.edu From 3 PM on parking is rarely a problem! Our address is 270 Bay State Rd, Boston MA 02215.
- I can advise you on the best resources to meet your particular needs. Africa@bu.edu 617-353-7303. I enjoy working with individual teachers to map out a great teaching unit.
- I offer professional development workshops at NERC and for school districts and in cooperation with other organizations.
- If you send us your email and address, we will add you to our mailing list. DonÕt worry about us overloading your email, as we send out only about 8 emails a year about special events or summer programs for teachers interested in Africa.
