The 1993 World Bank report “Investing in Health” shaped the global health discussion for the last two decades. It used the concept of QALYs and DALYs to recommend focused investment in a limited package of health services, and proposed restricting the investment of public or donor funds in tertiary hospital services in low income countries. A new 20-year anniversary report reviews global health progress since 1993. Sir George Alleyne, former director of the Pan America Health Organization, and contributor to the 20-year anniversary report reviewing global health progress since 1993, will speak about the conclusions of the report and discuss the challenges to improve global health over the next 20 years.
