Adam H. Naylor, Ed.D., AASP-CC
Director/Sport Psychology Coach Dr. Naylor brings over 10 years of applied sport psychology experience (Olympic, professional, major collegiate, and elite junior) to the AEC team. Beyond overseeing the AEC he serves on Boston University’s School of Education faculty and is consultant to the Lewiston Maineiacs (QMJHL). Emily Carusone, M.S., CSCS
Strength and Conditioning Coach Coach Carusone has extensive experience designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for youth through professional athletes. Prior to joining AEC she trained high school and collegiate athletes at Strength in Motion in Syracuse, NY. She holds a masters degree in Exercise Physiology from Syracuse University where she was a Big East athlete for four years. Email Emily- Kevin Avilla, MS, ATC, CSCS
Strength and Conditioning Coach Coach Avilla brings a wealth of injury management and performance enhancement experience to the AEC team. He served as the athletic trainer for the University of Massachusett’s men’s basketball team for many years, followed by two years serving as a strength coach on Boston’s South Shore. His diversity of experiences, ranging from working with Division I basketball, to Major League Lacrosse, to adolescent club soccer athletes leaves him uniquely suited to help each athlete reach his or her potential. - Jason Meade, M.Ed. Strength and Conditioning Coach Coach Meade is an adapted physical education teacher and football coach in Boston public schools. He fulfills the teacher-coach ideal and leads AEC’s contributions to the strength and conditioning portions of Athlete Support at Boston English High School. - Matthew Pecci, M.D.
Consulting Sports Medicine Doctor Dr. Pecci is an Assistant Professor in Family Medicine and the Director of Primary Care Sports Medicine at the Boston Medical Center. He is the Medical Director for Boston University Athletics, and also serves as a team physician for MIT Athletics, and several local high schools. He is available to see orthopedic and musculoskeletal problems, medical problems which affect athletic performance, and general medical issues. Email Dr. Pecci. - R. Mark Laursen, M.S., A.T.C.
Director of Athletic Training Services Mr. Laursen serves as a programmatic and administrative advisor to the Athletic Enhancement Center. He is Boston University's Director of Athletic Training Services and Clinical Associate Professor of Athletic Training in BU's Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Mr. Laursen has a long history of service to student-athletes, of mentoring athletic trainers, and of scholarly contributions to sports medicine. Email Mr. Laursen.
